Another Day At The Barn

I had an interesting day at the stable yesterday.....There is one horse that I (literally) wrestle with every time I have to bring her in from the paddocks. Evita is gorgeous and I love her, however, she's also very spirited, big and strong. Yesterday she came in like a lamb. It was wonderful.

I went from there to the pony paddock and things rapidly went down hill from there. In my experience, ponies are food obsessed. I was bending over near some hay I'd brought in as a treat while I cleaned and one of the ponies (there are two twins) ran over, bit me hard on the back and pushed me down. I was stunned. I've never had a problem with either one of them before and it happened so suddenly, I can only think that he thought I was going to eat the hay or something and he wanted me out of the way. He left a huge red raspberry on my back and it feels like I've been hit with a baseball bat. I think that if I hadn't had three layers of clothing on, he would have taken a chunk out of my back.

After that, it took me 10 minutes to bring in another horse who's usually a sweetheart. She Would. Not. Budge. It was the weirdest thing.

Not sure what was going on with the energy I was putting out there, but it was definitely odd.

It was such an absurd event yesterday that all I could do was laugh when I thought about it. Today, however, I'm feeling like I just did 3 rounds with Michael Spinks and I'm sooo tired, headachy, and sore. Everywhere. This kind of drama I can do without. And, yet, I can't seem to stay away from the place.

Urges

I've suddenly developed this nearly uncontrollable urge to start knitting again. I'm not sure why, but I find myself scouring websites looking for patterns and admiring yarn colours, so I dug out my knitting needles this afternoon, some beautiful yarn I've had stored away for years, and knit myself a little sample swatch. I haven't knit for a very long time and had forgotten everything I'd ever known (which admittedly wasn't much), however I've found that the internet is a wonderful resource and after some brief research I found a great site that has excellent videos teaching the basics of knitting. www.knittinghelp.com So, in a matter of minutes I was up and running. It's a very relaxing, comforting, creative exercise. I'd like to use this fabulous yarn I've had for so long, especially after I've seen how it knits up, so I think I'll just work on a very simple tank top pattern and see how it turns out. If all goes well, I'll have a cute new top to wear this summer.

Here's today's masterpiece!
